What Are These "Special" Places Where Our Donations Go

We consistently are asked "What are all these "special" funds/envelopes/places that our donations go."; "What are our donations to this fund support?"  The funds are all special and go to assist those in need or crises.  Here is a description, if you think we've missed something, let JoAnne know and she will fix it--she updates our web site!

Major Improvements/Capital Improvements--funds are used for major/capital projects that need to be completed--like painting the cross, cleaning, repairing, or replacing the roof.  If you have a question regarding this, please contact the church office.

Misc. Outreach Fund--1/2 of the Altar Rail along with any designated member donations go to assist folks in need of gas to get back home, or to and from work.  Persons in need contact the church.

Family Life Center/Safe House—1/2 of the Altar Rail along with designated member donations go to assist victims of domestic violence.  FLC and Safe House provide a safe and transitional environment for victims of domestic violence and their families.  Many times the victim and their family leave the abusive situation with just the clothing on their back--monies from local churches combined with state grants assist these victims in getting back on their feet and being productive members of our society.

Shoes for Children--donations to the "Shoe Fund" or the "Pennies for Shoes Fund" go towards purchasing shoes for children in our local schools.  We send a check quarterly to the Flagler County Education Foundation for the purchase of shoes for the "Stuff Buss."  We ask you to set aside one penny for each meal eaten, each day as your donation.

Sharing Sunshine--donations to the "Sunshine Fund" are use to assist members of our parish community that need assistance.  Any member of our parish that needs assistance should contact a member of the finance committee, pastor or church treasurer.

Alpha Pregnancy Center— Designated member donations go to assist pregnant women and girls who choose life, with expenses for medical bills, nutritional needs, testing and other resources.  Alpha offers parenting classes and promotes a positive, can do attitude with the women they assist. On occasion the filled baby chest items go to Alpha to assist their clients.  The Wisdom Circle is in charge of distributing the items in the baby chest when it's full and donate to various local groups.

FLUM Children's Home—Designated member donations along with monies collected in the Children's Home envelopes on the fifth Sunday of the month go to support the residents at the Florida United Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise.   Children are brought to the FLUM Children's Home from around the state, when they have no where to go. They are welcomed with open arms, and receive the benefits of love and acceptance.  The residents live on site.  Each United Methodist Church in the Florida Conference is assessed $12 per member as a suggested donation towards funding the Children's Home.

United Methodist Sunday , formerly One Great Hour of Sharing— A special Sunday each March.  Donations to this offering underwrite UMCOR's "costs of doing business." That helps us keep our promise that 100 percent of every other gift you make to a specific UMCOR project can be spent on that project-not on home office costs. UMCOR is a good steward of God's gifts. Offering gifts over and above those used to cover administrative costs are channeled where they're most needed. UMCOR's specialized ministries-responding in disaster, fighting hunger, alleviating poverty, providing relief supplies around the world, and offering hospitality to immigrants and refugees-all assist the most vulnerable people whose need is greatest.
